Ergometer Relay Races for 60

America Rows Newburgh had 60 middle school rowers come to practice on a bitter cold Tuesday to participate in Relay Races on the ergometers.

"It's hard, but we had fun," said 11-year old Karla Gunera.

The coaches put the rowers through a broken 2K, followed by Calisthenics, followed by the Relay Races.

"We are learning water confidence on Mondays at the Pool and doing indoor rowing 2 days a week at the Boathouse," said Team Mom LoBiondo.  "I'm supposed to be doing Open Row with the adults but I like working out with the Nora Cronin (middle school) girls.  The coaches don't cut me any breaks, even though I'm 4 times as old as these girls!"

"This is a great program," said Programs Director Coach Kennedy, "This is exactly what a rowing program should be doing for the community."
